Five men have been arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft in an operation sparked when a tracker company reported that a range Range Rover had been stolen.

The device on the car led police to an industrial estate in Bagley Street, Lye.

There they found a unit said to be housing parts of stolen vehicles.

A stolen BMW, along with other cars and parts believed to have been taken were also uncovered in the swoop, which happened at around 8.15pm on Tuesday.

Det Sgt Leighton Shingles, from Force CID, said: "Enquiries are currently on-going but we are potentially looking at quite a large-scale operation.

"I would appeal to anyone who has any information about car theft to call me or a member of my team on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

The suspects, aged between 23 and 40 and all from the local area, were released pending further investigation.
