Man threatened ex with Taser and knife

A man threatened his former partner with a stun gun and knife after they split up, telling her ‘I’m going to Taser you’.

Ryan Campbell, aged 24, could not accept the relationship had broken down when she returned to her parents with their children, branding him ‘jealous and possessive,’ Mr Angus Robertson, prosecuting, told Wolverhampton Crown Court.

The defendant started driving up and down Priory Road, Dudley, near the family home and sent her abusive messages, which included a threat to kill her, issued on February 25. The following day there was a video message from Campbell in which he said: ‘I am coming for you – where are you?’

A short time later he hurled abuse and the contents of a soft drink bottle at her as she left a shop, continued Mr Robertson. She ran towards her parents’ home but he followed by car and cornered her.

She was punched by Campbell who then produced a stun gun, held it two feet from her and declared: ‘I am going to Taser you’.

When she said she was calling the police, he ran to his car, took a kitchen knife from the vehicle and hurled it towards her. There was a further clash in the street Two days later he tried unsuccessfully to drag her into his car by the hair and spat at her, said the prosecutor.

Campbell, from Beecher Road, Halesowen handed himself in to police on March 9. The Taser was found during a search of his home.Miss Ellen Shaw, defending, said: “He needs to work on his temper.”

Campbell admitted using a firearm with intent, harassment and possession of a bladed article. He was jailed for 16 months.
