Machete attack near Walsall Wood pub 'linked to Pelsall Carnival violence'
A man was hit with a machete when violence flared near a pub in a 'targeted attack' linked to earlier violence at Pelsall Carnival.
The victim, aged 24, was left with a gash to his head when trouble flared near the Boatmans Rest on Walsall Wood High Street just before 10pm yesterday.
Police, who said his condition was not life threatening, today linked three separate outbreaks of violence in the area and issued a warning that they will 'come down hard' on anyone involved.
MORE: Seven arrested as violence flares at Pelsall Carnival
Walsall police Insp Jackie Nicholson said police were trying to establish the identity of the last night's attacker.
She said: "It’s understood this was a targeted attack and linked to a fight at a carnival in Pelsall on Saturday that led to the arrest of seven people on suspicion of violent disorder, plus five more from what’s believed to be a connected disorder in Bloxwich on July 10.
“They have all been bailed pending further enquiries, and a vehicle has been seized for a forensic examination as part of the wider investigation.
“We will not tolerate outbursts of violence like this and will come down hard on those responsible; anyone linked to these disorders can expect to be arrested and put before the courts.
