Machete attack in Wednesbury treated as attempted murder

A man was left critically ill after being attacked with a machete in Wednesbury in what was being treated as attempted murder today.

The victim was reportedly attacked with a bladed weapon on Friar Park Road, where police were called at around 7.45pm yesterday.

Police say the 35-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remained in a critical but stable condition today.

A man aged 53 was arrested from a nearby address soon after.

He was today being held on suspicion of attempted murder.

Pictures on social media showed how police sealed off the road while the investigation was launched.
