James Brindley murder: West Midlands top police officer urges public to 'make a difference' and help catch killer
The West Midlands' most senior police officer today made a direct appeal to the public over the murder of James Brindley.
Chief Constable Dave Thompson said the public 'could make the difference' as detectives investigate the fatal stabbing in Aldridge.
The 26 year old was stabbed through the heart while walking home from a night out in Aldridge at around midnight on June 23. He died in his parents arms.
Today, Mr Thompson told the West Midlands Strategic Policing and Crime Board: "I would like to make an appeal over the murder of James Brindley in Aldridge.
"All cases where someone loses their life is distressing and in this case I would like to stress that it is an inquiry where the public can make a real difference."
He was speaking less than 24 hours after police issued new details about the night of the tragedy.
The force said that at around 11.45pm, two Asian men were seen leaving the Croft and entering Rookery Lane in the direction of the High Street in Aldridge.
Detectives said the men were dressed smartly so may have been coming from a party, night out or celebration.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Mallett, from force CID, said: “I can’t stress enough that we want to speak to these men as witnesses as we believe they may have seen something that could help with our investigation."
Anyone with information should contact West Midlands Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 101.
A £10,000 reward is on offer.
