Woman calls police to report meowing cat
A woman called police to complain that a cat was meowing outside of her front door, officers have revealed.
West Midlands Police is encouraging people to be responsible when they call the force.
On social media they are using the hashtag #ThinkBeforeYouCall to spread the message.
This week the force has shared examples of calls which certainly fell into the frivolous category. While some are as comical as they are bizarre police are reminding people that pointless calls increase queuing time for those who have a serious matter to report.
In a series of Tweets WMP Force Contact said: "One female called 101 today to ask for the Non-Emergency number for @StaffsFire. We are not here as a directory service.
"A male rang as he was concerned he had just been past @WMP_CEU (Camera Enforcement) camera at 2mph above the speed limit and wanted to know what would happen.
"Also in the past couple of weeks a female ringing 101 as a cat was meowing outside her front door.
"All of these examples increase our queuing time when we are trying our best to improve our service to you. Please #Think before you dial 101."
