Christopher Kennedy spotted officers and raced off in the blue Jaguar X-type, driving through a McDonalds car park and on to the wrong side of a road.

Police had to abandoned the chase for safety reasons, and Kennedy dumped the car on a driveway after hitting a parked vehicle and damaging a fence.

A mobile phone in the car was traced to Kennedy, and he was added as wanted on the police national computer after police made several failed attempts to arrest him.

Kennedy, 34, of Showells Gardens, Nechells, told police he thought his ban had expired. He denied the driving caught on camera was dangerous.

But he was jailed for 20 months and given a driving ban of 37 months on Monday after being found guilty of dangerous driving at Birmingham Crown Court.

The pursuit, in the Erdington area of Birmingham, happened on August 24, 2015. He was arrested last year.

Pc Rob Lattimer, from CMPG said, "Kennedy has a history of dangerous driving and tried to evade arrest.

"He was banned from driving but showed a blatant disregard for the disqualification and the safety of road users and pedestrians.

"The prison sentence sends a clear message, do not put innocent members of the public in danger by driving dangerously"
