Speaking during yesterdays performance governance meeting between Staffordshire police bosses and Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis, assistant chief constable Nick Adderley said that while PCSOs are getting to anti social behaviour call outs quicker than in previous years, more needs to be done to improve what they can do once they arrive.

Mr Adderley said: "We are improving in terms of how quickly we can get a PCSO out to an anti-social behaviour call out.

"However, there is no consistency in the quality of the service offered.

"Part of the the work we are doing to tackle anti-social behaviour is training our PCSOs.

"It is a mixed picture at the moment but it is something we are aware of and working towards improving."

Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Ellis said: "From my experience, PCSOs are so valuable to their communities and I think the word they do is absolutely fantastic."
