Black Country yob gets five-year football ban after Euro 2016 violence
A football yob who was involved in the Euro 2016 violence with other England fans from the Black Country has been slapped with a five-year football ban.
The lengthy rap sheet of Walsall fan Samuel Cadman, 30, who has convictions dating back to 2007, was read out to Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court before he was handed the ban in his absence.
Prosecutor Shanaz Anwar, on behalf of West Midlands Police, said: "He was served a notice for this hearing on November 20.
"He had been seen at a recent match between MK Dons and Walsall. An officer saw him at the match. He told the defendant he would process the banning order.
"In January 2007 at Galton Bridge train Station in Smethwick, he was arrested for violent disorder after joining Walsall fans who were in a confrontation with Shrewsbury Town supporters.
"In May 2008 he was charged with being drunk and disorderly in Walsall town centre.
"He was issued with a football banning order for five years in May 2009.
"The following July he was charged with using threatening or abusive words to incite violence, and later that year he was convicted of violent disorder.
"There was another conviction for inciting violence an being drunk and disorderly in 2011 and in 2012 he got into an argument with another male in Yates' in Leicester Street, Walsall. "
He told police it was because he was talking to a female. A fight broke out and he punched the injured party to the floor who hit his head and lost consciousness. He then ran from the scene.
Ms Anwar added: "After the Tranmere Rovers against Walsall match outside Prenton Park he was trying to engage with other rival fans and incite violence. And after a match at Barnsley later in the year he was at the front of a group of fans.
"They were shouting at each other when police arrived. Both groups ran off in different directions. Cadman was seen to punch and kick other males. He then ran and punched a police constable.
"He was also seen causing trouble after the match against Chesterfield away in March this year.
"He was at the Euros in France this year. He first went to Spain to meet up with West Bromwich Albion fans and then they went to France.
"He caused disorder in the cities where England were playing against Russia, Slovakia and Wales. He was identified among a group of fans who were throwing bottles towards rival supporters.
"Given his record it is in the interest of other supporters, businesses and members of the general public that he is banned."
Cadman, of Crankhall Lane Wednesbury, has been ordered not to enter Walsall town centre or any town or city where Walsall FC is playing matches for three hours before, during, or three hours after matches. He will also have to pay £205 in court costs.
