Camran Green died in hospital aged just 17 on Sunday after being stabbed in the stomach in Cheltenham.

Steven Sharpe, aged 31, from Cheltenham, has now been charged with his murder.

The victim had previously lived in Wednesbury and more recently at a children's home in Moseley, and his key carer there, who prefers to remain anonymous, said: "He was a keen footballer, and we got him into the Lee Hendrie Football Academy.

"He had the heart for it and he wanted to get involved, so we helped to get him started, buying him a football kit. He was really good at snooker too. And he was good at singing."

His former carer added: "He got involved with the wrong people."

It was then decided that Camran should be placed elsewhere.

"I lost touch with him," said his former key worker.

"When I heard the news I was sickened. I broke the news to one of my colleagues and she was in tears."

Two women, aged 44 and 31, who were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have been bailed by Gloucestershire Police pending further inquiries.
