Search is on for masked raiders who fired gun in terrifying raid on a Great Barr pub

The search continues for three masked men who fired a shotgun inside a pub during a terrifying raid.

The armed trio stormed into The Hamstead pub in Great Barr on Thursday afternoon, and robbed two men before firing the gun into the ceiling.

They then sped off in a silver car.

Staff are not commenting on their ordeal, but a spokesman for Stonegate, which owns the pub on Green Lane, said: "There was an incident at the pub during which one of our customers had personal items taken.

"Our staff and customers are safe and we are assisting police with their enquiries.

Detectives are investigating, and a West Midlands Police spokesman said: "Police were called to Hamstead pub on Green Lane just after 5.30pm on Thursday, August 11 after three masked men burst into the premises armed with a shotgun.

"They robbed two men of personal belongings and, as other customers came to their aid, the shotgun was fired into the ceiling. No-one was injured and the offenders made off in a silver car.

"Detectives are viewing CCTV at the premises and following up a number of lines of enquiry.

"Anyone with information to assist the investigation should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
