Jamie Costin was also nearly twice the drink-drive limit when police were called to the fast-food restaurant in Great Bridge, Tipton, magistrates in Sandwell heard.

Police were called by people at McDonald's who were concerned for the health of the 29-year-old, as he was unconscious. The headlights of his Vauxhall Astra van were on and the engine was running.

A bag of cocaine was found on his dashboard, though there was not enough for him to be charged with drug-driving, the court was told.

However, he was found to have 150 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 microgrammes.

His solicitor Mr Numann Haque told the court Costin had driven off in the van following a row with his girlfriend.

Costin, of Spring Head, Wednesbury, pleaded guilty to possession of a class A drug and drink-driving. He was banned from driving for 19 months and fined £365. He was also told to pay court costs of £161.50.
