Hapless free range eggers leave receipt at victim's home
Hapless vandals throwing eggs at houses in Penkridge left behind a receipt at one of their victim's homes.
Police have tracked down CCTV footage from the shop where the eggs were bought and are appealing for help to identify the culprits.
They were alerted after Sandra Dixon, aged 51, posted a picture of the receipt from Penkridge's Co-Op store on Facebook page, Penkridge Matters.
Ms Dixon, of Beddington Drive, said: "It's not the crime of the century but it's not nice.
"We go for drinks in town on a Friday night but my daughter said she heard a noise.
"She thought it was a knock and run because we do get those but it was the eggs.
"I found the receipt the next morning. I thought it was a piece of paper in the drive but when I checked it was for eggs.
"When I took the receipt to the police they said it must be a posh area because instead of alcohol or drugs, these kids bought free range eggs.
"It's funny I found the receipt. At the end of the day it just goes to show that actions have consequences."
Police attended the store and captured CCTV images on the egg-throwing, which happened on Friday.
Popular Penkridge marathon hero Mark Vaz said he was also targeted and claimed to know who the yobs were.
He said: "Someone egged mine but I know who they are. I hope they get caught now to be fair."
Police in Penkridge confirmed they now had the suspect's names and would be 'knocking on a few doors'.
Witnesses are asked to call police on 101.
