WATCH: New footage shows police chasing stolen bus as three appear in court
Three men were appearing in court today charged after a bus was stolen from a Tipton yard, as new footage of the subsequent police chase emerged.
Peter Loveland, aged 39 from Dale Close in Tipton, and Thomas Tibbs, aged 20 of Clinic Drive in Lye, were charged with aggravated vehicle taking and bailed to appear at Sandwell Magistrates Court today.
The third man, John Burton aged 38 from Broom Road in Dudley, was charged with aggravated vehicle taking, driving while disqualified and using a motor vehicle without third party insurance. He was remanded in custody to appear at the same court this morning.
Today new footage emerged (above) showing the bus travelling past a CCTV camera, with the flashing lights of following police cars visible moments later.
The three were arrested after a bus was stolen from Tipton, spotted by police in Albrighton, and then abandoned in Coseley on Wednesday night into the the early hours of Thursday morning
The theft was not discovered for some time but the police helicopter was called in to search for it after it had been reported missing.
It was spotted on the A41 at Albrighton at 2.50am yesterday morning and a police pursuit started.
The bus was stolen from Tinsley Street, Tipton, at around 9.40pm yesterday evening.
The chase lasted for around 30 miles, and saw two of the bus' tyres shredded when two stingers were used in a bid to stop it: one in Goldthorn Hill, Wolverhampton, and a second in Daisy Street, Coseley. The bus was eventually stopped and abandoned in Southall Crescent, Coseley, not far from where it had been stolen.
