The moment the two men forced entry into Jumping Jo's Nursery in Bilston was caught on CCTV.

Manager Nicky Timms told of her upset and anger at the raid at the nursery, which has only been open 12 weeks. Now she hopes that a public appeal could help catch the crooks.

She said: "We've not been long up and running. I arrived in the morning and found the gate was wide open and the door was off.

"I've spoken to the police and given them names who we think it might be but there's nothing they can do without hard evidence.

"Nothing was taken apart from an empty safe and about £20. And they didn't touch the children's area which I'm grateful for."

The new nursery currently employs six members of staff and is licensed to look after 36 youngsters at a time. The break-in happened on Wednesday, March 16.

Ms Timms hopes increasing security at the nursery will help allay any fears that parents may have of it being broken into again in the future.

She said :"I'm going to be stepping up the security. The main thing is to reassure parents that it is safe here and it was something that happened out of hours.

"The parents have been really supportive anyway, and have just been saying not to let it get me down. It is quite scary.

"The building I'm leasing wasn't in the best state of repair at first, but I've tried to improve it and it's looking much better, there are other things I still want to do.

"It just sets me back and it's an inconvenience as much as anything."

She added: "I've worked as a deputy manager for about seven years and setting up on my own was something I really wanted to do.

"So I was really upset and angry when it happened. Now I'm making sure the premises are fully safe and secure."

Police are investigating the break-in.
