Jewellery stolen from woman, 79, in Kidderminster distraction theft

Decking out their 79-year-old victim in costume jewellery, before stealing her gold necklaces, police are appealing for witnesses to a distraction theft.

The elderly woman was walking through Kidderminster when she was approached by two women who got out of a car and began putting costume jewellery around her neck and fingers.

However, when the pair removed the jewellery from the woman her two gold necklaces with pendants were missing.

The two woman are described as Asian, aged between 25 and 30-years-old, and of a slim build. It's believed one was wearing a white head scarf and the other was wearing a colourful head scarf, and both were dressed in flowing layers of clothing.

The driver of the dark blue car the women got out of is described as an Asian man, aged between 30 and 40-years-old, and of a large build with black hair.

The theft happened in Bernie Crossland Walk at around 4.30pm on Thursday.

Investigating Officer PC Su Goddard of West Mercia Police said: "We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information.

"If you can help identify the offenders or have seen such suspicious activity within the area, please call 101. Alternatively, information can also be provided anonymously to the independent charity, Crimestoppers, via 0800 555 111 or their website."
