Ross Workman was today sentenced to a three year community order after admitting possessing indecent images of children last month.

Workman, who previously lived and taught in Stourbridge, must also now attend a sex offender treatment programme.

The former headteacher, now of Low Fold Close, Worcester, was arrested by detectives from the force's Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team on November 3, 2014.

He was suspended from his role at Oldswinford CE Primary School and letters were sent home to parents.

And on February 4 Workman pleaded guilty to six offences of making an indecent photograph or pseudo-photograph of a child at Dudley Magistrates Court.

Earlier this year, West Midlands Police spokesman Deb Edmonds said today: "At this stage of the inquiry there is no evidence of any inappropriate contact between the teacher and pupils at the school.

"Letters were sent to parents at the school informing them of the investigation."

School chairman of governors, Stan Williams, said at the time of the arrest: "A member of staff has been suspended after being arrested by police.

"We have been advised by police that at this stage of the inquiry there is no evidence of any inappropriate contact between the member of staff and pupils at the school.

"We are working closely with the council and cannot comment further until this legal matter has concluded."
