Four arrested in dawn raids following clash between Walsall and Blackpool football fans
Three teenagers and a man have been arrested in dawn raids following an investigation into a clash between rival football fans in Walsall town centre.
Police were called to High Street, Walsall at around 2pm on Saturday, January 23, after trouble broke out shortly before the Walsall v Blackpool match.
A 16-year-old was arrested from an address on Pinson Road, Willenhall and two 17-year-olds were arrested from separate addresses on Thorne Road, Willenhall and Cedar Avenue, Brownhills in the early hours of this morning.
A 20-year-old man was arrested from Darwin Road, in the Beechdale area of Walsall.
All four were arrested on suspicion of affray, and all have been interviewed and bailed with stringent football related conditions while enquires are carried out.
PC Stuart Spencer, from West Midlands Police's football unit, said: "We continue to investigate this disorder and today's arrests are only the start of our action.
"I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the disorder that happened near to the Saddlers Shopping Centre entrance to come forward with information.
"I would also appeal to those people who were involved in the incident to think long and hard about their actions and to do the right thing and hand themselves in. It is only a matter of time before we come knocking at your door."
