Policeman and crash investigator charged with drink-driving
A serving West Midlands Police officer will appear in court after being charged with drink-driving.
Pc Chris Blount, of Rowan Road, Sedgley, is accused of being over the limit in the early hours of November 6 on the Black Country Route.
He has been charged with one count of drink-driving, with prosecutors alleging he blew 101mg per 100ml in a breathalyser - nearly three times the limit.
Blount, 49, is a member of the force's Regional Collision Investigation Unit.
His role with the unit has seen him speak at numerous inquests and court cases around driving offences and saw him take a leading role in the force's annual crackdown on festive drink-driving.
West Midlands Police spokeswoman Hannah Fitzgerald confirmed Pc Blount has been charged.
She said: "Police officer Christopher Blount, based in Birmingham, has been charged with drink-driving.
"Blount, 49, was arrested on November 6, 2015 after being stopped by officers on the Black Country route at around 2.30am.
"He is due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court on January 25."
