Teenager stabbed on Wolverhampton's Broad Street

A teenager was stabbed in the back on Wolverhampton's Broad Street this afternoon.

The 18-year-old was left with serious injuries after being attacked near to the junction with Westbury Street at around 12.05pm.

He was taken to hospital. No one has been arrested.

Broad Street was shut, while Westbury Street was cordoned off along with Whitmore Street's junction with Thornley Street.

The Express & Star's Jack Averty provided updates from the scene:

West Midlands Police said: "Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact Wolverhampton Police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Crews arrived to find a man, believed to be 18-years-old who had suffered stab wounds to his back.

"He was treated at the scene and given pain relief before being transported to hospital for further assessment."
