Bilston body find not suspicious, say police
The death of a man in Bilston whose body was found in a street is not being treated as suspicious, West Midlands Police said this evening.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, collapsed on Green Park Avenue near to Lawnside Green in Stowlawn. Police officers were called to the scene just before 7.30am on Monday.
He was treated by ambulance crews, but it became apparent very quickly that there was nothing they could do to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The area was cordoned off while detectives investigated the circumstances around the death, and initially said the death was 'unexplained'.
On Tuesday, West Midlands Police spokeswoman Sarah Buxton said: "Following a post-mortem, police can confirm there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a man in Bilston yesterday. The matter has now been referred to the coroner."
