[gallery] A shopkeeper was repeatedly stabbed at an off-licence in Bilston.
Officers today remained at Bilston News & Booze, on the junction of Bilston Road and Hargreaves Street, after the attack.
The victim, 51, was treated at the scene for stab wounds and taken to hospital with serious injuries. Officers, who were called just before 9.40pm yesterday, said the injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
Det Sgt Paul Cook said: "We are still in the early stages of investigations and continue to trawl CCTV and speak to local witnesses for any clues.
"I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the attack to call me or one of the team.
"We believe that this would have happened shortly before the shop closed for the night.
"No arrests have been made as yet, but we are determined to find the person responsible for this and need people to come forward with information."
Anyone that could help the investigation is urged to call Wolverhampton police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
