Arrest over 'threats to kill West Midlands Police officer'

A man has been arrested in connection with an alleged threat to kill West Midlands Police officers.

The suspect, 31, was held this afternoon after the threat was made yesterday, sparking a security alert.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "The man was arrested at a property in the West Midlands by officers from the Counter Terrorism Unit, who are leading the investigation."

Officers are refusing to say what the man has been arrested on suspicion of, or where he was held.

Earlier, police released this video of Assistant Chief Constable Garry Forsyth explaining the background to the security alert.
