Police hunting thug in Halesowen bottle attack

Police are hunting a thug who attacked a woman with a broken bottle when she refused to dance with him at a nightclub in the Black Country.

Her mother was also hit with the jagged glass from the bottle as she tried to rescue her daughter.

Both suffered severe head injuries and were left needing stitches.

The vicious attack took place at Benjamin's nightclub, in Birmingham Street, Halesowen.

Police today revealed details of the attack for the first time as part of their hunt for the attacker. And they have also released an a picture showing the injuries the young girl suffered

A CCTV image has also been released of a man police want to question relating to the attack.

Police believe he had friends with him at the time and they are appealing for them to come forward.

Detectives have also released a shocking picture of the younger woman's injuries, to help trigger memories of revellers at the venue.

Both women suffered deep cuts in the attack which took place in the early hours of November 16.

Following the attack police spoke to revellers who had been in the nightclub at the time and also examined footage from the club's CCTV.

Police today appealed for witnesses to the attack to come forward.

Detective Constable Dave Hackett, from West Midlands Police, has appealed for anyone who may be able to help with the investigation to get in touch.

He said: "I am convinced that someone would have seen the incident and remembered this unprovoked attack on the dance floor of a busy club.

"I would also appeal to the friends of the attacker, whom I believe were present, and will have key information which can assist our investigation.

"This attack has been a life changing event for the mum and her daughter and I would urge anyone who can help to contact us immediately."

A 26-year-old man was arrested in December but later released without charge.
