Rider Allan Green, of Cradley Heath, was flung 130ft from his motorcycle and died in the crash caused by Richard Edmonds when he pulled out of a junction onto the A458 near Wolverhampton.

Edmonds' Vauxhall Corsa emerged from Six Ashes Road crossroads onto the main road when it collided with Mr Green's BMW R1200 motorbike on October 30, 2012.

Mr Green, a 66-year-old retired fabricator welder and father of two, from Gawne Lane, suffered multiple injuries and died at the scene.

Both vehicles caught fire because of the impact of the crash and Edmonds had to be pulled from the Corsa by bystanders moments before it burst into flames.

He was yesterday sentenced to four months in jail, suspended for a year after being found guilty by a jury of driving without due care and attention causing the death of Mr Green.

Edmonds, a freelance journalist of Dowles Road, Bewdley, was baned from the road for three years and told he must take an extended driving test before he can be allowed back behind the wheel.

Mr Green's family said they were satisfied justice had been done.
