Resident, 53, left with fractured skull after being attacked by burglar
A resident was left with a possible fractured skull today after allegedly being attacked by a burglar in Netherton today.
Police rushed to Swan Street at around 1.10am to reports of a burglary in progress, and arrested a suspect aged 20 who was allegedly hiding under a van a short distance away.
A second suspect, aged 26, was said to have been found and arrested behind a garden wall in nearby Park Street.
The pair, from Netherton, were being questioned on suspicion of aggravated burglary. The victim, a 53-year-old man, is being treated in hospital for a fractured skull.
Det Sgt Matt Nightingale, from Dudley CID, said: "Police were on the scene within minutes of the emergency call being received and quickly began a thorough search of the surrounding area.
"The injured man was treated by ambulance staff as officers scoured nearby streets looking for the suspects. They were soon able to find one of them under a van and hotly pursued the other man on foot resulting in two swift arrests."
