Wolves fan banned from every ground after Coventry barrier jump
He leaped the barrier in joy after seeing his side take the lead in a West Midlands derby. But the price of Wolves fan David Siddons' celebrations is a ban from every football ground in Britain for the next three years.
Siddons told Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court that he got 'a bit excited' when Leigh Griffiths put Wolves 1-0 ahead against Coventry City on October 19.
The 21-year-old then proceeded to run on the sidelines mocking the visiting support shouting 'come on you Wolves' before he was hauled away by police.
Mr David Lees prosecuting said: "It was during the Wolves versus Coventry City match on October 19 at around 4.20pm."
He went on: "Mr Siddons was taken to the police station and admitted climbing over the barrier."
Representing himself, Siddons, of Broad Gauge Way in Wolverhampton, said: " I've been to a few games over the last couple of years, probably about four or five. I was out with a few people because my friend was moving to Australia.
"I got a bit excited when Wolves scored and as soon as I climbed the barrier I regretted my decision. I accept whatever the court finds is an appropriate sentence."
Siddons, a recruitment consultant, pleaded guilty to a single charge of going onto the playing area at a football match.
Magistrates banned Siddons from every stadium in Britain for the next three years. He is also prohibited from watching England matches abroad during that period. He was fined £135 and ordered to pay £85 and a £20 victim surcharge.
Wolves fan Joshua Harvey, 28, of Powke Lane, Rowley Regis, was fined £300 for invading the pitch at the same game and possessing a bag of cocaine. He was banned from attending matches for three years.
