Police officers said they were 'appalled' after dozens of cars, homes and businesses were damaged in Spies Lane and Howley Grange Road on Friday night.

They have since arrested an 18-year-old man from the town, who has been bailed until a date next month for further inquiries.

His bail also includes a condition that he does not carry any marker pens or spray paint. There were obscene messages on the homes of some residents.
