Gambler rented out Stourbridge house for cannabis

A gambling addict who rented his house out to cannabis growers in return for thousands of pounds in cash has escaped a prison sentence.

Steven Narang, aged 61, of Enville Street, Stourbridge, pleaded guilty to permitting his premises to be used for the production of class B drugs.

He was given a 52 week suspended sentence and a two year community order.

Wolverhampton Crown Court heard police found 341 cannabis plants with a street value of £100,000.

Prosecuting, Mr Paul Mitten said Narang was working in a casino and was offered £12,000 by a player for the use of his premises.

Defending Timothy Talbot-Webb said Narang was told there would be a small amount of cannabis plants.
