Police appeal on knife shop raid

A knife-wielding raider frightened a 15-year old girl serving behind the counter of a newsagents before robbing the store of a large amount of cash.

The young shop assistant was left very shaken and distressed after the robbery, which happened at Taylors newsagents in Areley Common, Stourport.

The man went behind the counter in the shop and opened a till, before grabbing a substantial quantity of cash, which he put in his pocket before running off.

Dc Shelley Aplin, of West Mercia Police, said: "The shop assistant, a 15-year-old girl, was alone in the store at the time.

"She was not injured, but this was a very distressing experience for her.

The robbery happened just before 12 noon on Sunday.
