Masked man in Wednesbury building society raid
A Wednesbury building society has been raided by a man who threatened staff before making off with cash.
The man who had covered his face walked into the West Bromwich Building Society at Market Place just after 11am today.
He threatened staff and demanded that they hand over cash.
Sergeant James Lewis said: "Local officers supported by a firearms team were immediately dispatched and searched the area for the offender."
"My officers were on the scene three minutes after receiving the alert and an investigation has now been launched by detectives from Force CID."
No one was injured in the raid and no weapons were seen by witnesses.
Police say a small quantity of cash was stolen.
The building remains sealed off while detectives take statements from staff and while forensic scene investigators examine the area and secure CCTV footage.
