Arrest made after fire at Wolverhampton drugs farm
A man was arrested after a drugs farm sparked a blaze at a flat in Wolverhampton.
Fire crews found a scorched tent with the remains of cannabis plants being cultivated under it.
A fault in the electrics powering the hydroponic system designed to speed up the growth of the small crop is thought to have started the fire in a bedroom of the property in Keats Road, Bushbury around 11am yesterday.
Cannabis leaves were discovered drying in the kitchen and bathroom. Fire crews from Fallings Park Fire Station used breathing apparatus to put out the blaze. They had been alerted by the occupant who had apparently been sleeping in the room. He was taken to hospital.
A 20-year-old man was later detained by police on suspicion of being concerned in the production of cannabis.
