Knife robber targets cash delivery driver in Staffordshire

A robber threatened a cash van delivery driver with a large knife outside a Penkridge bank today and made off with a large haul of money.

Police say the robbery happened outside Barclays in Crown Bridge at around 11.30am.

The delivery driver was not injured.

The man made off in a grey or green Seat Altea, which drove off towards St Michael's Church.

The vehicle had the registration number DE10 YZC.

Det Insp Jim Callaghan, senior investigating officer, said: "A detailed investigation is now underway by officers who are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the Seat in the hours lead up to the incident or afterwards, or anyone acting suspiciously in the Penkridge area.

"Our inquiries will continue at the scene this afternoon including taking witness statements and gathering CCTV from the locality.
