Manhunt under way for Wolverhampton sex attacker

A manhunt is under way after a woman was subjected to a serious sexual assault in Bilston town centre as she made her way home after a night out.

The 27-year-old walked along Bilston Road, Wellington Road and onto Wolverhampton Street towards the town centre.

She was grabbed from behind and dragged onto a grassy area, where she was assaulted, before her attacker ran off.

The offender is described as white, around 30 years of age, 5ft6ins tall and of slim build. He was wearing a black hooded top with jeans.

Detective Inspector Annie O'Grady, from Wolverhampton's Public Protection Unit, said: "I am particularly keen to hear from motorists who may have been passing the area and spotted something untoward which aroused their suspicions."

Specially trained officers continue to support the young woman as she recovers from her ordeal which happened at around 2am on Sunday.
