Driver charged after Kingswinford mother's crash death

A man has been charged with causing the death by careless driving of a mother-of-two in a car crash.

Samantha Jennings, aged 26, from Kingswinford, died in the accident on the A449 at Cookley, near Kidderminster, in the early hours of December 8.

The care assistant had been the front seat passenger in a Vauxhall Astra which left the road and hit a tree near the Island Pool pub.

The driver was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries while a rear seat passenger was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital with minor injuries.

A 22-year-old man from Stourbridge has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and possessing cannabis. He will appear before Kidderminster magistrates on May 30.
