Petrol bomb thrown through Wolverhampton flat window
A fire broke out in a Wolverhampton flat after a petrol bomb was thrown through its window, according to firefighters.
A glass milk bottle containing fuel was thrown through the window of a flat on Glyn Avenue, Bilston at around 11pm yesterday.
The property, on the ground floor of a three-storey block of maisonettes, has boards in some windows, but fire crews confirmed its occupant was out at the time of the blaze.
A pair of firefighters in breathing apparatus forced their way into the burning building to bring the flames under control, while the rest of the crew remained at the scene for around one and a half hours as they doused the flat with a hose reel jet.
Watch commander Andrew Rainey said West Midlands Police were called to the scene and the circumstances were now being investigated.
