The 32-year-old, originally from Tipton, appeared from a high-security prison via video link at Birmingham Magistrates Court yesterday. He gave no indication of plea to one charge of conspiring together with nine others to escape lawful custody while on route to Stafford Crown Court from HMP Hewell in January last year.

The case was committed to Birmingham Crown Court, where Anslow will appear alongside his co-accused tomorrow.

Later this year he will stand trial accused of the murder of Richard Deakin, 27, in Burntwood in July 2010.
