Malcolm Parkes, of Arthur Road, Tipton, appeared at Warwick Crown Court today where he admitted the manslaughter of David Terrence Powell, known as Terrence, last September on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

Mr Powell, aged 58, was friends with Parkes' wife at the time of his death and the pair had arranged to meet at Jubilee Park in Tipton on Wednesday, September 5.

The court was told how Parkes, aged 50, overheard the arrangements and followed them to the park to confront them.

However, he later admitted to officers that 'he lost it' when he saw his wife with the man and drove his Vauxhall Astra onto grassland and deliberately struck Mr Powell.

The widowed father-of-two sustained head, neck and chest injuries in the collision and died at the scene.

CCTV footage obtained from the park shows Mr Powell's vehicle pulling into the park shortly followed by the Vauxhall Astra; the Astra is later seen exiting the park with windscreen damage.
