Three hooded thieves forced entry into the Cannock Road branch and stole cigarettes in the early hours of January 25.

They left the scene in a small car without any lights on.

Then overnight last Tuesday the post office was targeted again when damage was caused to the door.

On this occasion no entry was gained and nothing was stolen.

Dc Jamie Harris, investigating officer, said: "Whether or not these incidents are linked will form part of our investigation."

Witnesses are asked to call Dc Harris at Staffordshire Police on 01785 235933 or 101, quoting incident number 64 of January 25.

Alternatively, call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
