Tipton murder accused tells of row before death of girlfriend
A Tipton man accused of murdering his girlfriend after a series of rows told a jury he had not intended to kill her or cause her serious harm.
Daniel Jones gave evidence yesterday as his trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court entered its final stages. Jones, 27, of Grace Road, denies murdering Aston University student Da In Lee.
Jones told the hearing he and Miss Lee argued on April 8, 2012, where she had said "demeaning things" about his family and daughter. He admitted her words had "played on his mind" but said he tried to let it go.
Jones said there had also been a "very petty" argument about cleaning the bathroom.
The two later passed in the hallway where he said Miss Lee pushed him "violently" using both hands. Jones had pushed her back.
Jones told the court she had reacted aggressively and he had "straddled" her as she lay on the ground and put his left hand over her mouth.
"Before I knew it my hand was on her windpipe. It was only on her throat a matter of seconds. I did not intentionally press down," he said.
"There was no thought process. There was no intention ever to cause her harm. I did not intend to kill her."
Jones told the court Miss Lee suddenly stopped moving. He admitted he had not called for an ambulance or the police.
The following day he had gone to Bristol to visit his former girlfriend, and mother of his daughter, Stacey Miller where he had told her what happened, the court heard.
The trial continues.
