Computers and tools have been taken from cars parked at Gallagher Retail Park just minutes after they have been purchased.

Police patrols have now been stepped up at the popular retail park, on Axletree Way, following reports of cars being broken into and goods stolen from inside.

Sgt Sam Jones from Sandwell Police, said: "We have received reports in the last two days of shoppers at the retail park purchasing items, placing them into their vehicles and leaving them unattended.

"When they later get back to their vehicles they find that they have been broken into and the items have been stolen."

On two occasions brand new computer equipment was stolen while tools were stolen in a third theft from cars parked at the retail park, which is close to junction nine of the M6.

The first theft happened on January 2 between 2.20pm and 3pm. The others were on Monday.

Sgt Jones said: "We want to remind shoppers to never leave high value goods in their cars unattended, even if they are locked in the boot."

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
