Drivers arrested in Dudley blitz on drink

Four suspected drink drivers were arrested overnight in a continued crackdown by police in one part of Dudley.

Three of the motorists were picked up by officers after being involved in crashes.The first was a two-car collision at the junction of Saltwells Road and Tewkesbury Drive in Netherton at 6.30pm.

One of the drivers, a man aged 45, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

Two hours later, a 63-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after crashing his own car in Manor Way, Halesowen. He has been charged and released on bail.

At 11.45pm, another man, 28, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a crash at the junction of Dudley Road and Catholic Lane, Sedgley.

At 6.30pm, a man of 48 was arrested and charged on suspicion of drink driving in Wealdstone Drive, Gornal.

A 23-year-old man was also fined £80 for being drunk and disorderly at Merry Hill shopping centre at 12.30am.
