Balbir Singh was found dead in his house in Baldwin Close, Tividale, earlier this year.

Paramjit Johal, aged 50, also of Baldwin Close, Inderjit Dhesi, 31 of Brades Road, Oldbury, and Paramjit Singh, 46, of Wallace Park Road, Kent, are all accused of murdering the 54-year-old.

His body was discovered on Monday, March 5 after Johal phoned the emergency services. He told the operator that a person who was drunk had been allowed in, had fallen over and had died.

All three accused had been drinking all weekend, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard. Prosecutor James Grieves-Smith said: "All the defendants accept there was a falling out. Between Friday, March 2 and Monday, March 5 Balbir Singh was repeatedly assaulted by all three men.

"By the time he died his body had suffered at least 155 separate injuries and it was the totality of these injuries that led to his death. These defendants set out to humiliate him. This was a sustained and cowardly attackt."

Mr Grieves-Smith said that photos were found on Paramjit Singh's phone which showed Balbir Singh naked on a chair.

When Balbir Singh's body was found his beard and moustache were shaved and his turban had been removed. He had suffered bruising and fractured ribs.

The court also heard evidence from Mr Singh's widow, Parminder Kaur Kandola, who said the last time she heard her husband's voice he was being tortured.

Mrs Kandola, who lived in India while Balbir sent money home, told the court she rang Singh's mobile but he told her she would not be able to speak to her husband.

The trial continues.
