Riots pair appeal against conviction and sentence

Two members of a gang convicted of shooting at police officers during last summer's riots have appealed against their conviction and jail sentence, it was revealed today.

Jermaine Lewis and Wayne Collins were jailed for being part of a group that "lured" the officers to a pub in Birmingham before opening fire at uniformed officers.

Lewis, aged 27, of Summerton Road, Oldbury, was jailed for 23 years while Collins, of Luton, was given an 18-year term.
