Two people arrested in connection with a double shooting in Walsall will face no further police action, it was revealed today.

An investigation was launched after teaching assistant Clare Sly, aged 39, and 43-year-old Derrick Vassell were found dead at their home in Laneside Gardens, Birchills, earlier this month.

The couple's 23-year-old driving instructor son Anthony Vassell and his girlfriend Cherelle Johnson, 22, were arrested on suspicion of murder and released on bail.

But police now say they are satisfied they were not involved. Their bail has now been cancelled and they face no charges.

Police have previously said they are investigating the possibility that mother-of-three Miss Sly shot her partner before taking her own life. An inquest on the couple opened on Monday and has been adjourned.

It will reopen once further investigations have taken place. A forensic post mor-tem has revealed both victims died as a result of gun- shot wounds to the chest.
