"Nowhere else like it!" - awards keep on coming for Shropshire hotel
A Shropshire wedding venue with a rich history of award wins is toasting another victory.
The Hundred House at Norton, near Bridgnorth, has been named Best Barn Wedding Venue in the West Midlands at the prestigious The Wedding Industry Awards four times in the last six years, but this latest honour is all the more special because it recognises the whole team.
West Midlands regional winners of the Wedding Industry Awards were announced at an event held at The Mount Hotel in Wolverhampton with judging of The Hundred House focused on a range of criteria - the most important of which was feedback from couples who married at the venue.
The Hundred House was well represented at the regional awards with 10 team members in attendance, and they are now counting down the days to see if they can be named national winners at an event to be held at The Underglobe in London on January 22.
Gemma Johnson, Wedding Manager at The Hundred House, said: “This award is another fantastic achievement for us and we could not be more delighted.
"We have fared really well in the Wedding Industry Awards, having previously won Best Barn Wedding Venue in the West Midlands four times in six years - and been Highly Commended nationally as well!
“This one does feel a little more personal and special however because it recognises the whole team who are involved in making the wedding such an amazing experience for all the couples who choose to share their big day with us.
“The award would not be possible without all our couples who entrust us with the biggest day of their lives and have taken time out to vote for us - providing some beautiful feedback. It really is most appreciated.
“Our barn is a stunning wedding venue and there is nothing or nowhere else like it. The history, the uniqueness, the literal bricks and mortar are just second to none, and while we know that winning the barn category in previous years included the team as well as the structure itself, there is just something so special about being recognised as a team this time.
“With so much success in the barn category, this time we decided to try our luck at the Best Events Team instead - although I was still involved with the Best Barn Award as I was asked to judge the category.
“Only award entrants over a certain score are named as finalists and there were seven from across the West Midlands, so some really tough competition for us to contend with in our category and many more finalists than last year."
Couples who voted were are asked various questions and asked to score venues based on their experience.
Other things the judges took into consideration included views on why the venues were different, as well as the quality of the venue, website and social media impact.
The Hundred House team at the awards in Wolverhampton included Wedding Manager Gemma, Head Chef Andy, Managing Partner, Stuart, with his wife Jo, who also works in the business.
Jo said: "We have a work-family ethos at The Hundred House and I believe this is a strong factor in our ongoing success.
“We also include this philosophy with our wedding day couples as well through a professional, respectful and personal approach.
“Every single one of our team works so hard to make sure that every couple leaves us happy, married and with memories that last a lifetime. The guys on the day, admin girls, chefs, housekeepers and cleaners, gardeners, maintenance team and the Phillips family who do a bit of everything. Everyone loves what they do and take so much pride in making sure that shows.”
