New appointment for heating specialists
A new engineering manager has joined leading commercial heating specialists Lord Combustion Services as the company continues to grow on the back of a successful 2020 performance.
Peter Drew has come on board as contracts manager with the firm, which serves more than 1,000 customers across the West Midlands and beyond from its base in Dudley Road East, Oldbury.
Peter joins Lord Combustion Services having worked for 16 years for Solihull-based building services consultancy Stewart Associates, where he was a senior mechanical design engineer.
Operating across the region, Lord Combustion Services serve a broad range of customers including landmark buildings such as Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s Edgbaston cricket ground, through to NHS sites, schools and other public buildings.
Despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and the phases of lockdown restrictions, the company reported a successful 2020 having ensured client sites met all heating and safety requirements. Lord also maintained commercial hot water systems, which proved important for handwashing facilities used in restricting the spread of Covid-19.
Stuart Smith, managing director, said the addition of Peter to the Lord team would further strengthen the business as it works with clients for the remainder of lockdown and further into 2021. He said: “Peter’s arrival at the company shows that we are serious about taking on people with strong experience who can support our technical resource.
“Having worked for a consultancy business, we identified that Peter would add significant technical knowledge to our in-house team. He will ensure we continue to not only meet the client’s brief each time, but we exceed their expectations, especially as we implement industry leading procedures to deliver high quality levels of service as customers step up activity following the pandemic.
“We are already building upon our strong 2020 performance to ensure all our customers receive a high standard of service, so Peter’s addition to the team is a welcome further boost.”
The new addition to the team comes after Greg Jones was appointed from a Lord managerial role to the board in January as part of a round of promotions. Marie Doherty became operations manager, Kal Plaha moved up to business development manager and Matthew Smith took on the position of contracts engineer.
Since it was formed in 1982, Lord Combustion Services has gone from originally being a mechanical contractor specialising in service and commissioning of gas and oil-fired equipment to now supporting customers across all aspects of mechanical and electrical building services.
