Nelson’s Distillery and School, based in Grindley, near Stafford, is launching an equity crowdfunding campaign next month to help maximise its international growth strategy and offer investors the chance to savour the taste of success of a rapidly growing British business.

Nelson’s was started by former chef Neil Harrison initially only for friends and family, but it has enjoyed continued growth since 2019 when Nelson’s Distillery and School was formed.

Since then, over 100,000 bottles have been made and five new gin and vodka schools have been opened in the UK and Asia, while online sales soared by 400 per cent last year.

With almost 50 per cent of the investment target already committed even before launch next month, there is already strong interest in the special opportunity available via a Crowdcube campaign.

Neil Harrision, founder and master distiller, said: “Nelson’s would not be where it is today without our 20,000 customers and I wanted to give something back. I am hopeful that Nelson’s customers and other gin enthusiasts will take up the equity on offer.”

Individuals can donate as little as £10, with investors receiving equity in the business as well as access to an investor rewards gift scheme, including a limited edition personally crafted investor gin made by Neil, gin and vodka school vouchers to any location, a year’s supply of craft spirits and even attending a shareholder meeting in the Philippines with a gin school hosted by Neil.

Mark Chambers, chief executive of Nelson’s Distillery, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people seeking to be part of an exciting adventure, backing a British company to not only continue its growth domestically but also enhance its standing on the international stage.

“In terms of business growth, the pace has really gathered over the last two years and our ambition is to have a Nelson’s Gin and Vodka School in every major city around the world.

“The investment raised will help build on the success we have enjoyed in the last two years, creating innovative new product launches, increasing the number of Gin and Vodka Schools across the UK and beyond and launching our industry-first franchise offering for budding entrepreneurs and gin enthusiasts who want to own their own business.

“We have a strong and loyal community of gin lovers who enjoy the Nelson’s products and we have had more than 8,000 people attend one of our Schools in the UK. We want to invite those people and more to be part of the ongoing success story and reap the rewards of our ambitions.

“There are predictions that the gin industry will continue to grow at a fast rate during the coming years and our desire is for Nelson’s Distillery and School to be at the heart of that expansion.”

Nelson’s Distillery and School produces a range of gin, vodka and rum and supplies products to selected bars and restaurants across the country. UK stockists including Waitrose and several independents.
