The 12 Beers of Christmas
For the 12 days of Christmas a Black Country brewer is presenting a treat of a beer a day.
Holden's Brewery in Woodsetton has put together a special limited edition 12 Beers of Christmas Calendar pack.
The pack features a selection of ales brewed at Holden's Hopden Brewery along with three from neighbouring Black Country breweries that it also bottles for.
Director Abi Kemp said there were just 200 of the boxes available.
The family-run business is still able to sell its beers from its bottle shop on the brewery site off Sedgley Road.
Priced at £42.50 each selection box also features a branded Pure Black Country pint glass and a bag of Holden's Finest Black Country Pork Scratchings.
They are available to order in person at the bottle shop, via the online shop, or on the new Holden's Beer@Home App.
The brewery is also offering Christmas crackers for £4 featuring different beers from the Holden's range which include Golden Glow, Woodsetton Pale and Black Country Special.
"It is the first time we have done something like this for Christmas. We had to switch the focus to bottle sales due to the lockdowns.
"We had fancied stepping up onine sales for some time, but never had the time – this year we have had plenty of that," explained Abi.
The brewery's winter warmer 7.3 per cent Old Ale has also just been brewed and is also available to buy online.
All the Holden's pubs in the Black Country and Staffordshire will remain closed under Tier 3, but would be able to open its Shropshire pubs – the Red Cow, Ackleton; The Golden Lion, Bridgnorth and Ye Olde Robin Hood, Ironbridge – from Thursday.
The business is still deciding on what to do. In Tier 2 pubs that can offer substantial food can open, but the Golden Lion doesn't have a big enough kitchen.
"We are talking to the managers and customers and working out what to do. A decision on whether to open or not will be made in the coming days," added Abi.
Holden's, which in 2015 celebrated the centenary of its founding by Edwin Holden, now has a fifth generation of the founding family in Charlotte Holden working in the business in business support.
