Geopark status is fantastic for festival
The organisers of the Black Country Business Festival hope to build on the success of the region in becoming a Global Geopark in this year's programme.
The festival is being held as a mix of online and physical events this year to showcase the business community and its industries in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
It has been moved from May to October 5 to 15 and more than 70 events are already planned.
Corin Crane, chief executive of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce which originally created the festival, said the Geopark status was fantastic for the Black Country and the festival needed to use that in a positive way.
The festival will also focus on firms that have innovated during the pandemic and highlight investment continuing in the region from its local businesses and those from outside the region and abroad.
A key message will be that the Black Country is back open for business and that its companies are resilient and supportive
The festival will be running virtual events through the Zoom platform.
The closing date for applications to stage events is now August 14 at https://www.blackcountrybusinessfestival.com/with free tickets for the programme due to go online from August 21.
Plans are still being finalised for exciting events to launch and close the festival.
